IDHSNA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING   Aug 04, 2011

Friday, August 19, 2011 at 6 PM
Lamplight Equestrian Center, Wayne, IL

The Irish Draught Horse Society of North America (IDHSNA) will hold our Annual General Meeting on Friday, August 19, 2011. The Meeting will be held at the Lamplight Equestrian Center located at 6N940 Dunham Rd., Wayne, IL 60184 at the tent located next to the Grand Prix Ring. The Meeting will be held at 6:00 PM and will be followed by a potluck dinner at 7:30 PM

The Irish Draught Horse Society of North America is at another exciting, if not crucial, point in its history and it is from that view that, on behalf of the Board of Directors and the members of the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America (IDHSNA), the 2011 Nominating Committee would like to issue the call for candidates who are interested in running for office on the Board of Directors for the IDHSNA. The society needs the assistance, support and service of members in good standing. We encourage each member to consider whether he or she will make themselves available to serve the IDHSNA, and the breed it was established to promote, protect and preserve.  Read more...

JUDIE FRAMAN   Nov 10, 2010

It is with great sadness I report the loss of a dear friend to the Society, Judith A. Framan. Judie's obituary was published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday November 09, 2010. She is survived by her husband Elliot P. Framan. Judie will be missed by many, and in particular her "The Blarney" team members who became fast friends and always looked to Judie for sage advice and thorough editorial expertise.

Rockin "BRIT" - I[D]SH Wins Rolex 2009   Apr 26, 2009

Headly Britannia, an Irish Draught Sport Horse, owned and ridden by Lucinda Fredericks won the 2009 Rolex 3 Day. She finished with a score of 32.3 carried from her dressage phase having gone double clear in both cross country and show jumping.

"Brit" is sired by Jumbo who is by Skippy, RID.

Connaught was 7th.
Arthur was 14th
Cruise Lion was 19th.
Gordonstown was 34th.

Every year, the SE Region presents awards to the top five finishing horses with Irish Draught blood.

Congratulations to the above horses, their breeders, riders and owners.

Congratulations Guinness   Sep 05, 2008

Congratulations are extended to Tors Gentleman Farmer RID for winning the RID Stallion Class at the Royal Dublin Horse Show on August 7, 2008 against some superb stallions. Way to go Guinness!

Herbert E. Buhl, III is understandably proud of him and stated, "I hated to lose him from the IDHSNA but he is in a good home and has gotten the recognition he deserves, and will be helping the breed in Ireland."

The Mixed Individual Equestrian Eventing Results were posted today at 12:20 EST!

GOLD: Hinrich Romeike riding MARIUS (HOL), riding for Germany went clear in showjumping, but incurred 4 time faults for total penalties of 54.20.

SILVER: Gina Miles riding MCKINLAIGH (IDSH), riding for the United States went clean in showjumping with total penalties of 56.10.

BRONZE: Kristina Cook riding MINERS FROLIC (Unknown), riding for Britain went clean in showjumping and total penalties of 57.40.  Read more...

Connaught wins Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event & IDHSNA Southeast Region sponsored High Point ID horse   Apr 30, 2008

In Lexington, Kentucky, Phillip Dutton (USA) rode Connaught to take the title in the Rolex Three Day Event 2008 CCI****. Lying third after dressage, the duo increased their lead by moving up to second place after cross country. They won the event after completing a perfect showjumping round in front of a large crowd.
Nicholas Finnerty, Breeding Manager of Horse Sport Ireland, on behalf of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook, and Sue Rowdon, representing the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America, were delighted to be able to make a presentation to the winning rider, Phillip Dutton.

Flexible is second in Rolex FEI World Cup   Apr 30, 2008

The Rolex FEI World Cup Showjumping Final took place in Goteberg, Sweden. Rich Fellers and Flexible finished in second place. The chestnut stallion is by the famous stallion Cruising (ISH), who coincidentally also took second place at the World Cup in 1999 with Trevor Coyle (Irl).

Rebel's Run (RIDSH by Rebel Yell, RID) was the top placed American Bred in the 6 year-old Young Jumpers Championships held at KHP the last week in September. He placed 5th over all in the 6 yr-old division under the guidance of his 17 year old rider, Kels Bonham.  Read more...

IDHSNA gets 1st permanent home in Kentucky Horse Park!  

In a significant decision, the Board of Directors for the IDHSNA has selected the Kentucky Horse Park (KHP) for the new headquarters of the society. The decision fulfills a long standing goal to establish a base for the organization in a professional office setting. The Board felt the time was right to make the commitment to a permanent headquarters as �the volume of work associated with the society has outgrown the capacity and generosity of our volunteers and we look forward to the grand opening on Friday, February 23rd, 2007.� This marks the first time in its fourteen year history that the IDHSNA will have a permanent headquarters.  Read more...
