Nominations Instructions

 Nomination Forms MUST be fully filled out to be valid.
 Nominees should submit a short “pen portrait” of themselves (300 words maximum) with their nomination acceptance. The pen portraits will be provided to the members before the election. You may also provide a photograph if you would like.

 

  • Completed Nomination Forms and Pen Portraits must be RECEIVED BY the IDHSNA Executive Secretary, ON OR BEFORE November 1, 2024 to be included on the ballot.

  • Receipt of the form will be acknowledged by email within 24 hours of receipt.  Incomplete Nomination Forms will not be counted.

Board Nomination Info

Members:  3 elected from membership in good standing

Director At Large

Goals:
1. Responsible to full membership for society policy, finance, committees, organization, adherence to mission and objectives, in short, as a voting member of the board of directors.


2. Directly responsible to membership only when Regional Chair is unavailable or unresponsive.  May also assist at Regional Chair's request for assistance with issues/questions/concerns from the general membership (as an interim step before complete board involvement, for example.)

The President:  An officer of the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America (IDHSNA). The President is responsible for performing the duties of the office set forth in the bylaws for this position.

IDHSNA President

Goals /Purpose
1. The President shall perform the duties of the office, consistent with the bylaws and as prescribed therein.


2. The President has the authority to the extent of and consistent with the bylaws and by that prescribed by the Board of Directors or by direction of an officer authorized by the board of Directors.


3. The President shall preside over meetings of the Board of Directors


4. The President shall coordinate the ongoing business of the Society


5. The President shall monitor the performance of Officers and Directors in their duties


6. The President shall have the duties and powers normally afforded to the office of President in addition to those particularly specified in these bylaws

 

7. The President shall represent the Society in various capacities, attend meetings and functions, execute contracts and documents, and serve on committees as may be required and authorized by the Board of Directors.

Regions:  The IDHSNA is comprised of six regions. Each region elects from among its membership a Regional Chair to serve a two year term. The Regional Chair is a voting member of the BOD

Regional Chair

Goals/Purpose:
1. To represent the IDHSNA Board of Directors and the Society in each Region. The Regional Chair promotes the Society and all of its goals to the membership and to future members.


2. To act as a liaison between the members and the BOD.
 

3. Act as voting member of the IDHSNA Board of Directors
 

4. Promote membership in the society and registration of horses.
 

5. Encourage educational events that highlight Irish Draughts and Irish Draught Sport Horses and report these activities to the BOD and membership via the Blarney and status reports which include financials, attendance, etc.
 

6. Encourage participation in the annual show, society committees, and other society functions and report these activities to the BOD and membership via the Blarney and status reports which include financials, attendance, etc.
 

7. Serve on the Registration and Inspection Committee as detailed in the R&IC TOR.
 

8. Act as a fiduciary in the conduct of your activities as a Regional Chair.

Executive Secretary: An officer of the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America (“IDHSNA”). The Executive Secretary is responsible for the records and correspondence of the Board of Directors (“BOD”).

Executive Secretary

1. As an officer of the IDHSNA and as established by the Bylaws, attend all Board meetings, act as a clerk thereof, and record or supervise the recording of all votes and actions of the BOD in the minutes


2. Give or cause to be given notice of all meetings of the members and of the BOD


3. Act as liaison between the IDHSNA and other breed societies for the purposes of correspondence


4. Collect reports from committees of the Society and place them on the BOD yahoo list


5. Perform other duties as may be prescribed by the BOD. Other

IDHSNA Treasurer

Goals/Purpose:
1. The Treasurer shall keep an accurate record of receipts and disbursements and shall present a statement of accounts to the Board quarterly.


2. The Treasurer shall have the care and custody of, and shall be responsible for, the funds and assets of the Society.
 

3. The books shall at all times be open to inspection of the Board of Directors or its designees and to the
Members as provided by law.

 

4. At the end of the fiscal year the Treasurer shall render a complete account of monies received and expended during that year with a complete accounting at the Society’s Annual General Meeting.
 

5. The Treasurer shall be bonded in such amount as the Directors shall determine.
 

6. The Directors shall serve as an Auditing Committee for the Society's books, reviewing the yearly financial report in detail.
 

7. An audit to be conducted by an accountant may be ordered at any time by majority vote of the Directors.
 

8. The accountant who will carry out such an audit will be chosen by majority vote of the Directors.
 

9. The Treasurer and such other persons, if any, as the Board of Directors may designate, shall be signatories on bank accounts of the Society.

The Vice-President:  An officer of the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America ("IDHSNA,"). The Vice-President "shall act as an aide to the President and, in the absence of the President, shall assume the duties of the same. The Vice-President shall also perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President or Directors.

IDHSNA Vice President

Goals/Purpose:
1. The Vice President is an overall support position providing assistance and backup to the President. As such, specific goals and purpose change with the ongoing needs and pressing issues facing the Society.
