IDHSNA gets 1st permanent home in Kentucky Horse Park!

In a significant decision, the Board of Directors for the IDHSNA has selected the Kentucky Horse Park (KHP) for the new headquarters of the society. The decision fulfills a long standing goal to establish a base for the organization in a professional office setting. The Board felt the time was right to make the commitment to a permanent headquarters as the volume of work associated with the society has outgrown the capacity and generosity of our volunteers and we look forward to the grand opening on Friday, February 23rd, 2007. This marks the first time in its fourteen year history that the IDHSNA will have a permanent headquarters.

The move will add value to many aspects of the organization, including the opportunity to share office staff, consolidate task, and improve efficiency. The professional setting of the KHP will increase breed recognition, improve marketing visibility, and provide an opportunity to better meet the needs of the membership.

The headquarters will be located at the National Horse Center on the grounds of the KHP. The office is conveniently located in a complex that houses more than thirty professional equine organizations such as the United States Pony Club, United States Equestrian Federation, United States Dressage Federation, and the United States Hunter Jumper Association.

The IDHSNA will share office space with the Friesian Horse Association of North America (FHANA) in the newly constructed US Pony Club building. The office includes staffed reception, common work areas and a separate office for the societies Registration Officer. Importantly, the society will enjoy the benefits of shared office personnel. The Board stated this allows the society to hire part-time personnel familiar with the professional horse environment and addresses the concerns that we have grown past the very generous contribution of time that volunteers have donated to us. By working with the FHANA, we will be able to share labor and save money while hiring the paid help we need.
